ACUPUNCTURE Richard Jackson
5 Element Acupuncture is a profound and powerful treatment which addresses the root cause of patterns of disharmony in the body. Using the well-proven Chinese system of meridians, the practitioner aims to determine where there is an imbalance, and to restore the harmony, often through a deeper spiritual and mental approach. This can give a profound sense of well-being and calm.
Headaches, hypertension, irritable bowel, hayfever and asthma are some of the conditions shown to benefit from treatment. Others include gynaecological problems such as PMS, bloating, period pain and issues relating to male and female fertility.
Richard Jackson has practised acupuncture in SW London since 1999, and prior to that in North London and Oxford. He has a particular interest in sub-fertility issues.

REFLEXOLOGY Jo Pearce
Reflexology is a method of bringing about relaxation, balance and healing in the body, through stimulation of specific points on the feet and hands. It is based on the concept that every part of the body is connected by energy pathways which end in reflex points on the feet, hands or head. By working over these reflexes in a precise and systematic way and by applying controlled pressure, the reflexologist is able to help the body achieve its own natural state of good health.
Reflexology is particularly effective in treating poor cardio-vascular or lymphatic circulation, stress related conditions, musculo-skeletal pain, hypertension, asthma, headaches, migraine, insomnia, sinus congestion, bowel disorders, and many gynaecological conditions.
Jo Pearce qualified in 1998. She has experience with a wide variety of conditions, and especially enjoys working with expectant and new mothers.
NLP, TIME LINE THERAPY © Sally Roberts
Sally is a Master Practitioner of NLP, which stands for Neuro Linguistic Programming. Simply put, this is a way of understanding how we do what we do, and how we represent our experiences to ourselves. When we understand this, we can choose to change what isn't working, to stop or alter a behaviour, or to model excellence and be more effective.
Time Line Therapy © and Hypnotherapy are techniques used with NLP to allow you to access your powerful 'other than conscious' mind, and trust your own intuitive ability.
COUNSELLING Scott Kirk, C. Psychol
There are many different approaches to counselling or 'talking therapy'. Their common aim is to offer techniques of support and help to the patient so that they feel able to face and ulitmately overcome emotional issues in their life.
'Humanistic' approaches literally offer support and encourage the patient to express their thoughts and feelings. For some people, this encouragement and acceptance is enough for the patient to gain a greater confidence in their own intuitive abilities in resolving issues.
Other patients feel the need for greater assistance in overcoming their distress. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) involves both the therapist and patient looking for negative, unhelpful thoughts and behaviours which are the source of their negative moods and symptoms in their current life. Strategies can then be introduced to help practice alternative ways of thinking and behaving. CBT is currently the most successful and most popular of the counselling approaches for many emotional issues.
A few patients prefer to gain a greater understanding of their long-term, unresolved issues. A 'Psychodynamic' approach can help the patient understand unhelpful patterns in their current life and how they are connected to childhood issues. This understanding helps the patient to disconnect their current life from unhelpful values and beliefs from the past.
Scott Kirk is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist. Having worked in a number of careers, he became interested in Psychology in 1993. He completed his BSc degree in 2001, MSC in 2004 and Post Graduate Diploma in 2006 all at London Guildhall University. This made him eligible for chartered Status the same year. He offers an 'integrated approach' of all three of the above approaches, mainly focusing on CBT. Affecting change in patients is more likely to be successful if they are offered the type of approach they feel most comfortable with.
Areas covered include: Depression, low self-esteem, childhood issues, anxiety and panic states, relationships, bereavement, anger, obsessional and eating disorders.
REIKI, USUI SHIKI RYOHO Grainne Warner
Reiki (pronounced ‘Ray-key’) means “universal life energy” and is a powerful system of natural hands-on healing originating in Japan which relieves physical stress and pain, as well as working on deeper mental and emotional levels to create a renewed sense of health and balance. Reiki supports all forms of treatment, both conventional and complementary and is often used to help speed up recovery. Reiki helps to boost the immune system, release toxins from the body, encourage good circulation and digestion, calm the mind and emotions and restore harmony to the whole being.
During a treatment, ‘Ki’ is channelled through the practitioner’s hands into the client who remains fully clothed. The Reiki practitioner places their hands in a series of non-intrusive positions on the body, holding each position for several minutes. Each person experiences Reiki in a different way and there is usually an overall feeling of well being, peace and relaxation after a treatment. Grainne is a Reiki Master who has trained with Reiki Alliance Master, Tripuri Dunne since 2000 and she teaches Reiki levels I and II as well as offering Reiki treatments in her South London practise.
BACH FLOWER REMEDIES Grainne Warner
“Good health is harmony, rhythm, when we think positively, constructively, happily. Ill health is when we think negatively, unhappily, destructively.” Nora Weeks – Dr. Bach Centre.
The 38 Bach Flower Remedies are a system of natural healing developed in the 1930’s by Dr. Edward Bach for the relief of negative attitudes and moods which hinder our enjoyment of life and are regarded as contributory factors in the cause of physical and emotional suffering.
By observing our moods and emotions and through consultation with a Bach Consultant, we can identify that state or mixture of states which is present and so take the required remedies to gently bring ourselves back to centre and free ourselves from our suffering. The Bach remedies are a complete system in themselves and can also act as a supportive therapy with other forms of treatment. They are very gentle in their action and can be taken by all ages.
Gráinne has trained as a Bach Flower Consultant over a number of years with the Bach Foundation and she adheres to their code of practise.
METAMORPHIC TECHNIQUE Grainne Warner
The Metamorphic technique is a simple technique which helps us to tap into our own innate life force and gently transform our patterns in the way that is right for us, moving us from where we are to where we can be. It is empowering, non-invasive and gentle with no need to diagnose, discuss any personal problems or take a case history. Metamorphic Technique allows people to make deep inner changes without focusing on the past. People often find the technique at times of great difficulty or transition and it can really help to support them at these times.
The practitioner uses a light touch on points called the spinal reflexes in the feet, hands and head which correspond to the time preceding birth when many of our personal patterns and characteristics are established. This acts as a catalyst to allow the person to access their own inner Life Force and bring about self-healing by changing those patterns that no longer serve us. This technique is beneficial to all, including those suffering from any form of illness or severe stress, children and pregnant women.
Gráinne is a member of the Metamorphic Association.

HOPI EAR CANDLING Grainne Warner
Ear candles have been used by many cultures as a natural therapy since ancient times. The Biosun candles used are a hollow tube made out of cotton flax and impregnated with beeswax, honey, sage, St.John’s wort, chamomile and beta-carotene. The candle has a chimney effect with a mild suction action when lit. This gently massages the eardrum, regulates pressure within the head and promotes better blood and lymph circulation. Impurities are drawn out and vapours which help calm and sooth the nervous system are inhaled through the nose.
Ear candling works on all levels, physical, emotional and subtle and for all ages. Benefits include relief from headaches, excessive ear wax, tinnitus, ear aches, sinus problems, catarrh, rhinitis, and pressure regulation. As the ear, nose, sinuses and throat are all interconnected the candles regulate and balance the whole upper respiratory tract. People often describe a soothing, light sensation in the ear and head, gentle sounds and a wonderful feeling of relaxation during a treatment.
Grainne did her training with Mary Dalgleish and Lesley Hart who have written a wonderful book about ear candling called Ear Candling in Essence. Biosun candles are based on the Native American Hopis’ traditional formula and are a registered medical product under EU regulations for Thermo-Auricular Therapy.

PILATES AND EXERCISE
The clinic has two Pilates instructors who work on a 1:1 basis with clients, and who run classes in the area. Amanda Hermitage is a qualified Body Control Pilates instructor, and Sonia Ford is a Pilates Foundation qualified trainer. We also have close links with Personal Trainers, Tai Chi instructors and Yoga teachers.
PILATES AND BOWEN TECHNIQUE Amanda Hermitage
Pilates reshapes the body by targeting and strengthening core muscles which are vital for reducing back pain, releases tension and improves posture and flexibility, returning the body to its natural alignment. It avoids the muscle and ligament damage sometimes associated with other fitness regimes and consequently plays a key role in many injury and rehabilitation programmes.
The Bowen Technique is a gentle, subtle and relaxing therapy which encourages the body to rebalance and restore itself to good health. It relieves tension and reduces pain and has been found to be effective in the treatment of many unresolved problems, including back pain, whiplash, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow and RSI. There is no manipulation or adjustment and many conditions can be resolved within two to three sessions.
As well as specialising in neck and back problems, Amanda has a particular interest in the causes of re-injury in relation to movement and posture and teaches remedial exercise to people recovering from accidents and operations. She also teaches independently to groups and on a one-to-one basis and gives talks on posture with an emphasis on identifying potential problems caused by sitting for long periods.
Amanda is a member of the Body Control Pilates © Association, the Bowen Therapists’ European Register and the Register of Exercise Professionals (Level 3) and an associate member of the Association of Natural and Physical Therapists. She is also registered with the British Complementary Medicine Association, The General Council for Massage Therapy and on the NHS Register of Complementary and Alternative Practitioners.
PILATES Sonia Forde
Pilates is based upon an understanding of the muscular and skeletal systems of the human body. The Pilates Teacher uses this information to create a comprehensive exercise programme for the client with the aim of restoring a greater sense of balance. Sonia Forde is one of our Pilates teachers, working with clients in the local area for the last 3 years. She qualified in both Pilates matwork and Pilates studio apparatus, with the Pilates Foundation. For further infomation go to www.bodypotential.co.uk or www.pilatesfoundation.co.uk

THAI YOGA MASSAGE Francesca Jamieson
Thai yoga massage is a science of manipulative medicine and peripheral stimulation inducing deep levels of healing in all areas of the body. The tight, uncomfortable, blocked or injured areas act as a subconscious voice, often indicating where the cause of the problems lies. Compression, rocking, stretching and acupoint pressure, work to release energy blocks, muscle knots and emotional tension, which encourages the body to move towards its optimum healing state.
As a holistic treatment, Thai Yoga Massage is beneficial for many ailments including injuries, joint pain, depression, insomnia, digestive disorders and many more.
Francesca's experience of the 'rat race' and stress of London lifestyles with its effect on our finely tuned bodies, inspired her to research new avenues of relief. She has studied Kinesiology, Reflexology, Swedish Oil and Thai Yoga massage. The combination of her knowledge and experience, and the power within each individual to optimise the balanced working of their body results in a powerful and profoundly effective therapy.
